Weddings

You probably have read me lamenting on this but i couldn't help it. I just realised that i broke the record this year for attending 14 weddings compared with 10 last year. And next year, i'm already invited to two other weddings and goodness knows how many more in the pipeline!

Kinda tired cos most of the time, the weddings feel like my own than my friends' because i'm involved one way or another, be it "jee mui", ushering, registration, emceeing, or even sharing a thought or two. I've already been maid-of-honour twice. and like the old saying goes, "three times a bridesmaid, never a bride" so i would probably stop being somebody else' maid-of-honour :p

I don't deny the fact that being at weddings also puts some pressure to get hitched myself. As much as i'm aware at the reasons why i'm still single, the rational gets a bit blurry when i'm surrounded by marrying couples. if someone knows how to feel at ease (and single!) at weddings, do tell me cos i still have a string of weddings to go to.

That aside, weddings are a happy occassion. i always felt touched during the ceremony cos it reminded me on how the couple have journeyed so far to reach this level of commitment. it reminds me that much effort have been put in by both persons to stay true to their love for each other. wedding is not a happy ending, instead it signals a brand new beginning for the couple as they commit to live together as one until death do they part.

I hope in all the weddings that i have attended and will attend, they will live to the vows they have made.
