Day 13
I think i need to take some days off from politics after this is over because it has been both physically draining as well as heartache in the past two weeks. heartache because i see so much that i didn't really want to see and hear things that i rather not hear. it's ironic, really, that people can't disengaged themselves from politics because everyone belongs to a country somewhere, somehow, and the way how the country works would have an impact on those living in it.

I believe the wind of change is blowing past us gently without us knowing. i doubt tomorrow we would see a significant change but it will be an important milestone in the history of this country.

Society has reached a certain maturity that demanded that they be given the rights to decide without being controlled. in the past 13 days of campaign, there are numerous advertisements and marketing gimmick to woo voters (adex is probably at its high in the past 2 weeks!). also, certain media has to be used to socialise voters to give certain perceptions. a lot of un-told and un-published stories. this might have spurred the level of dissatisfactions because now, those with access to Internet have resorted to gaining information on the worldwide web. they are losing trust on mainstream media. for now, the number of these individuals is relatively small. one day, it might become a mass that no one had noticed earlier.

If indeed education level had improved, then the society we have today would be more knowledgeable and self-awared than 50 years ago. and if this was true, then we have a community that is able to think for itself and discern accordingly. and again, if this was true, by controlling the mainstream media through ownerships would likely result in a negative impact rather than what is expected. "every action has an equal and opposite reaction.." so says Isaac Newton.

Democratic laws and institutions protect the rights of all citizens. it provided sovereignty of people. and this includes decision making. making a choice based on own discernment. this is also how governments are elected. In a perfect democractic country, information is freely given to everyone. in a less than perfect democracy, information is partially available. nonetheless, STILL available...
