Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast. It is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self seeking. It is not easily angered, It holds no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails (1 Cor 13:4-8)
God has an ironic way of showing me life's little gifts. While writing this morning's blog, i was feeling almost disappointed with people. i was rather pessimistic, perhaps overly negative.
Few hours later, now, my spirit has been totally lifted by the cheer and laughter i shared with a group of people that i've always cherished. honestly, i've no idea if they are still the same people that i know them to be. and truthfully i don't really care. for what it's worth, the moments we have had til now have been meaningful.
I was surprised by the transparency we shared. last week, one of them shared about his downturn in his life. coming from him, it's a surprise because he's one of the most confident persons i know. i identified with some of his situations, having gone through them myself. his sharing makes me feel less agony for myself. funny how one's woes is another person's cheer.
Our dinner session today was an overdue one for me because the last time i saw them, it was New Year's Eve. reminded me again on how i've centred my life around myself over the last 2 1/2 months ... the gang hasn't changed much though. still the same bluntness and direct puns. i was caught in the midst of it, having being asked questions that i didn't really want to answer. thankfully, they didn't try to be persistent (great friends allow you to be who you are ... )
I'm always inspired after every of our session simply because these friends often give me perspectives that i never expected. like Covey said we don't see the world as it is, we see the world as we are. a glimpse into someone else's paradigm helps to bring realism into my little world.
I like the verses above, found in the Bible. reminded me that love is not about myself, it is always about putting others above myself. it is when i wallow in self-pity that i lose that focus ... is it time to stand again?
