Slightly close to a year, i had my second rafting trip. Like my first, it was again an achievement for me. Barely half an hour into the trip, I was thrown into the river while the raft floated down a rapid. Before hardly recovering from that, our raft capsized and i found myself floating in the water again ... We even managed to float down a rather straight fall. For someone that has a water phobia and can't swim, i think i survived the experience pretty well :-) hehe, perhaps that was my friend's intention on helping me to cope with my fear. It was thoughtful of him though ...
Sg Sedim near Kulim town is a quaint little kampung surrounded by Felcra plantations. It was duku langsat season and all around, i could see trees and trees of langsat. quite tempted to pick them but then again, i'm not much of a langsat person. might as well safe the trouble :)
The 12-km down the river was a pretty sight as the weather was cool and the river was calm. It hasn't rain for a few days so the water level wasn't very high thus making it more difficult to manoever the raft. there were several times my teammates had to carry the raft over the rocks. It's a good thing to raft with boys; then i don't have to work so hard and leave the hardwork to them :) besides, they always take care of the weaker sex :)
I'm not sure if i'd be brave enough to go again for such trips but it also made me realise that fear is a matter of the mind rather than anything else. outdoor adventure sports test our physical limits as well as mental. although i got bruises and bumps after the trip, it was all worthwhile cos the experience is again food for thought :)
