It was Foong Ming's wedding last Saturday (Sept 17). He's the second childhood friend that got married this year. His younger sister, Yeen, is my bestfriend and she got married in Jan. Another friend from the neighbourhood will be walking down the aisle in November.
Like all weddings, Foong Ming's was beautiful. The couple was clearly in love and their devotion could be seen as they looked into each other's eyes as the bride walked towards the groom. i felt a sense of nostalgic as i witness the event. Foong and Yeen were my closest friends while growing up. i used to hang out at their home, three floors below my flat almost everyday. We played games together, fought with each other and had many fond memories of one another.
To me, he is still the little boy that i grew up with and she's my bestfriend that cries alot because her brother teases her all the time.
How time has passed. How we have grown. How we have moved on.
After coming home after the wedding dinner, i sat on my bed wondering if i have made the best choices for my life. i choose to prolong my freedom by remaining single and uncommitted. i went for a traineeship two years ago, abandoning my career growth. Now that i'm back, i choose to use my finances on travelling instead of investing in property or other investment opportunities.
Perhaps if i had taken their route, i would have been a proud owner of a home, in stable relationship, or maybe even married.
Nonetheless, I can't say that i totally regret my choices. I still want those things but the issue is timing. For now, i'm willing to bear the consequences of my choices (",)
