Yesterday i carried RM109.50 of loose change to the bank to deposit it. the amount consisted mostly of 20 cents and 50 cents. i drew quite a number of stares from other bank visitors. since it was my first time banking in coins, i didn't know that i should bundle the same coins together. so there i was, standing at the counter, with stacks of 20 cents and 50 cents wrapped in paper according to the amount stipulated on the paper.
The lady at the counter was rather kind. she didn't laugh. she merely asked if i was running a business or was the money from my piggy bank. i told her it was the latter. she then helped me to sort out the coins and put them into plastic bags.
I waited about 10 mins after for her to recount the money and do the necessary steps for the transaction. honestly i was slightly embarassed by the whole scene but told myself that it was nothing wrong to save coins and bank them in eventually. afterall, it is still money, no matter if they are loose change.
