These past two weeks have been rather hectic. i was called outstation twice - a day trip to Teluk Intan to attend a plantation's 100th year celebration and two-day trip to Brunei to attend a conference.
Teluk Intan is a quaint town, further from Bidor in the state of Perak. it is famous for its chee cheung fun and its version of Leaning Pisa (see pix). i found out that there were a number of plantations surrounding the town. the view is scenic and it's refreshing to be out of the concrete city.
The downside to it is that customer service was not as quick as in the city. one of the quirks that irked me was that i had to buy RM2 worth of parking tickets for an hour worth of parking (40 sen per hour) -- i didn't understand the rationale behind that.
Bandar Seri Begawan, the capital of Brunei, on the other hand, did not offer much interest to me. it is also my second time to the country so i sort of knew what to expect. anyway, i was stuck in the hotel most of the time hence did't have opportunity to see the surroundings. the hotel was situated at a nice beach so the view is pleasant enough. the services, however, have much room for improvement especially the front desk officers. they had trouble comprehending that the company was paying for the rooms and kept bugging us (the guests) on payments upon checking-out.
Anyway, i'm just glad to be home. travelling on holiday is fun. travelling on work is a total different story; minus the cost of course :-)
