Kung Fu

Well as i mentioned in my last post, i had joined a kung fu class at the beginning of March. not at the gym but with a proper sifu. i'm now a part of Gary Koh Kung Fu International (www.gkacademy.com).

It was by coincidence that i took up the martial art. a friend had initially recommended it but i had managed to decline politely several times. on one occassion, we were having dinner and his teammate was there. he started talking about the subject and was so persuasive, i failed to have an excuse. i decided to join one class so to make him happy but never expected myself to get hooked after that.

The 2-hour workout is amazingly great because i felt every inch of my body actually did something. i could sleep better, appetite and digestion have improved and stamina is stronger. also i've lost a bit of weight. sifu told me today to aim for 55kg. i surely hope so cos' in the last one year of gym, i haven't lost an ounce!

The funny thing about joining kung fu is my friends' reaction. where there were some "Ooooos", there were also many eye brows raised. just yesterday my friends joked about me and kung fu; saying the next time i see them, i might just swing my arms and legs ...

The best feedback i got was from an old friend who said: "kung fu? why? why not join a dance class? kung fu is not gonna help you find a partner. it will just scare more guys away. it will make you more aggressive than you already are .. dance classes, on the other hand, are more sexy and attractive. a lot of people meet their partners at dance classes.."

I was so amused when i heard that. i was literally rolling in laughter. if my every interest is an effort to find a man, then i guess i would have lost my self a long time ago. nah ... i rather to be doing my own thing until God clearly tells me that it's time to hang up my singlehood.

"Oh, but why put the responsibility on God?"

Well simply because i know it's futile and fruitless in trying to matchmake myself. why take on something when i know God can do it better than me? there are some things that require a divine intervention and relationship is one of them. i've always believed that every life crossed path for a reason and purpose, and the paths unlocked when time permits it. yes i'll play my role but i won't insist when there is nothing to insist ...

Oh yes, back to Kung Fu. i totally recommend it ;) it's a good self defence and a great way to keep the body healthy. i'm looking forward to weighing 55 :o)
