A number of younger people are standing for elections this time. according to a malay daily, there are 46 candidates that are under 40 years old contesting for the various seats. i do not know the number accounted for during the 2004 elections but i assumed that it's most likely a smaller number (as far as my memory take me).

Is this an indication that the younger generation is now more willing to stand out and get involved in politics? people used to tell me that politics are for old men, who have more time to spare :P

Well, whether politics are for young or old, it is definitely refreshing to know that there is more younger people joining the bandwagon. after all, the society does comprise people of different ages. too wide a gap between representatives and the community would make communication even harder. Besides, ideals of different generation groups differ.

Of course, it is still yet to be seen if these younger breeds would end up as representatives ... hopefully their age is not a barrier to gaining the community's trust and confidence (it can swing either way, of course).
