Today i bid farewell to a good friend who decided to take a work and travel visa to the UK. he leaves for two years. at the airport, while watching his relatives fussed over him and his mother's unwilling expression to release her embrace when they hugged, i thought of how far this friend has come along since he made the decision mid of last year.
I'm very proud of him because i know how difficult it was to take that first step of boldness to make the application and then to inform his parents of his decision. there were many "buts" and "what ifs" but in the end, he persisted and persevered and thrived. today, his moment came. he is all set to leave.
His journey, of course, is only beginning as he still has the two years in the UK to experience. and if he's like me, he'd probably have a few homesick moments and wondered to himself, why in the world did he decide to take the plunge?!?! but in all, he'd be most glad that he did. no matter at what point his life is in, having the courage to face the unknown is always a reason to applaud and celebrate :)
So, here's to you CT! may you have a great ride and journey of a lifetime!
